Jennie Temple is an artist and lecturer based in Edinburgh. Since having children in 2006 and 2010, and until fairly recently, her work has predominantly centred around an exploration of what an art practice might look like in the space of being a parent and a full-time worker in art education. The majority of the work that Jennie made between 2010 and 2020 was in collaboration with her children, Rudy & Alice, and partner, Chris Walker, and was produced under the names Project!!WAKAKA! and FKAPW!

Drawing and its relation to written language has consistently been central to Jennie’s work and underpins a very straightforward and intimate means of documenting, which in turn seeks to understand and reflect upon aspects of every-day life. Recently this part of Jennie’s practice has broadened to include commissioned holistic documentation (drawings, writing, and photographs) made in response to research events and institutional activity.

Jennie will use the time at Cove Park to produce new work whilst also undertaking a re-grouping; an examination of the different threads of her practice and a rigorous reassessment of existing work.

This visual arts residency is supported by the Turtleton Charitable Trust. Funding from the Trust has supported two residencies in 2022 for visual artists aged 50+. We are grateful to them for their support.
