Residencies

Cove Park’s Awarded and Open residencies support research, creative development, and the production of new work. We welcome national and international artists, creative practitioners, and researchers working in all art forms and at every stage in their careers.

Our residencies provide the support and facilities required to ensure those taking part can focus upon the work that is urgent and important to them, whilst benefiting from and contributing to peer-to-peer and community engagement.

The artist Toby Paterson - with red hair and wearing a grey jumper and blue jeans - is standing with his back to us on the balcony cantilevered over a pond outside Cove Park's studios. He is looking across bright yellow gorse on the border of the pond to Loch Long and the blue hills of Cowan peninsula, and taking a photograph of the scene.

Awarded Residencies

Awarded Residencies are offered to local, national, and international artists following an application and selection process involving specialist art form advisors. The appointed residents receive fees in addition to travel, visa, materials, and access allowances when required.

Nine of the Making Tracks residents at Cove Park in September 2022, having dinner, some seated and some standing around long green metal tables on the balcony outside the Jacobs Building. The balcony is in early evening sunshine, and the table and chair legs are casting long shadows across the wooden decking. The view is of a green site, woodland, Loch Long, and the blue-grey hills of Cowal Peninsula beyond.

Open Residencies

Our Open Residencies provide opportunities for those with their own funding to take part in our annual programme: we welcome individuals, collaborators, and collectives – working in every creative discipline or area of research – who are able to meet the costs of a residency through, for example, the support of academic institutions, public funders, or trusts.

Partnership Residencies

Many of our Awarded Residencies are devised and developed in partnership with leading national and international cultural organisations, public funders, and foundations. These residencies support both national and international artists and researchers, and also make possible international residency exchanges, commissions, and public events.

Associates

Cove Park Associates is a membership programme open to all our former residents, offering ongoing support via fully funded residencies, other paid opportunities, discounts on Open Residencies, and invitations to a range of Cove Park events throughout the year.

The interior of the Jacobs Building at Cove Park. Looking across an open plan interior space, divided at one point by bookshelves, to large windows and the view of the green site, Loch Long, and blue sky.
