Cove Park’s international crafts programme expresses our commitment to supporting established international designer makers and creating ways in which these individuals can engage with artists, organizations and audiences in Scotland. Previous international craft residents include Johannes Nagel and Tilleke Schwartz.

Based in the Netherlands, Carolina Apolonia studied silversmithing and contemporary jewellery. Working individually and as part of a design collective, her work is inspired by the imperfect, impermanent and incomplete: she is interested in cycles of growth and decay, eroded geological structures and abandoned buildings. Using unorthodox combinations of materials to create tension and balance, she also employs found objects in her work.

At Cove Park Apolonia will undertake research into local and natural materials, such as leather, cloth and bones. Building upon her recent use of parchment and skins, she hopes to develop a new body of work with these and similar materials.
