Maria Fraaije (1992) is an illustrator/visual artist living in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. In 2024, she is exploring how drawing can offer comfort in times of changing internal and external landscapes, as funded by the Dutch Creative Industries Talent Development grant. She has originally been trained as a sustainability analyst, and has worked as a researcher in the Dutch Research Institute for Transitions.

In the past, she has exhibited in various Dutch art institutions and museums, such as the Kunsthal Rotterdam and de Fundatie in Zwolle. In her residency at Cove Park, she will draw observed and imagined landscapes, exploring new imagery and felt landscapes and spaces to feed into her studio practice.
