Dr Hannah Proctor and Dr Akshi Singh have been awarded funding from the British Academy for a writing retreat as part of a project called ‘Migration and Racialisation: The Psyche and the Social’. As writers and academics who work in the field of medical humanities, the retreat brings together artists, writers and psychotherapists to explore the themes of the project.
rémy–paulin twahirwa (he/him/they) is community organiser and a PhD researcher in Sociology at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Involved in migrant justice work in the last decade in so–called ‘Canada’ and more recently in the UK, rémy’s research project focuses on the use of administrative detention against asylum seekers, refugees and other people labeled as ‘migrants’ in the UK. Their research sits at the intersection of the Radical Black Tradition, Black Studies and de/anti colonial theories. rémy loves plants, books, films, zines and the warm of the colour purple.
