Alba G. Corral is a visual artist and creative coder based in Barcelona. With a background in computer engineering, she has been creating generative art using software and coding for the past decade. Her practice spans live performance, video, digital media and installation, exploring abstract narratives and expressing sensitivity and taste for colour. By combining generative systems with improvised drawing techniques, her digital language becomes organic, creating mesmerising digital landscapes. Corral is known for her stunning live audio-visual performances where she integrates real-time coding and drawing in collaboration with musicians. Her works have been exhibited at festivals and events in Europe, Mexico, Japan and EEUU.
Cryptic’s artist residency programme provides professional development time and support for musicians and digital artists to focus upon their own practice, whilst engaging with other artists and receiving peer-to-peer learning. The emphasis of Cryptic’s residency programme is on research and the development of existing or new work and is not geared towards a final presentation.
Since 2012, Cryptic has curated this annual artist residency programme at Cove Park focusing on music, sound and multi-media, with over 78 artists benefitting.
Cryptic’s residency programme is supported by British Council, Creative Scotland, PRSF Foundation, KulturLX, Diaphonique, UK/UA Creative Partnerships and the Embassy of the Kingdom of The Netherlands.
