Sinéad Morrissey, from Belfast in Northern Ireland, is a Professor of Creative Writing at Newcastle University. The author of six collections of poetry, her most recent publication is Found Architecture: Selected Poems (Carcanet Press, 2020). Her awards include a Lannan Literary Fellowship, First Prize in the UK National Poetry Competition, the Irish Times Poetry Prize and the E M Forster Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Her fifth collection Parallax (2013) was awarded the T.S. Eliot Prize and her sixth collection On Balance (2017) received the Forward Prize for Best Collection. She has served as Belfast Poet Laureate (2013-2014) and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2019.
