Cove Park encourages slow, sustainable travel via public transport. The Rosneath Peninsula benefits from a regular bus service to Helensburgh and a ferry to Gourock. Please discuss your journey with the team and arrangements can be made to meet you at our nearest bus stop or the pier.

The majority of Cove Park’s accommodation (our Cubes) is suitable for individuals. However, we do create specific residencies for families and individuals with caring responsibilities, and the site has accommodation – the Pods – suitable for residents coming with partners, children, and those providing support. Unless your partner or children are instrumental to your access requirements, research, or practice we would generally advise you to come alone. We can put those residents traveling with children in touch with local childminders and nurseries, however in our rural area these places are very limited.

Partners and families are welcome to visit at the weekend, but please let us know in advance so appropriate arrangements can be made. It is important we have the names and contact details of all visitors in case of emergencies.

Service animals supporting access needs are welcome, but otherwise we ask residents not to bring pets. Please discuss your requirements with the team in advance of your residency. Our site is home to sheep and cows and service dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.

We understand that you may not wish to disclose information about your health and wellbeing, but sharing access requirements will help us to provide the most appropriate accommodation and support. This information can be shared via our Access Statement with Alex Marrs (Senior Producer). Here is an example of Alex’s Access Statement.

The Jacobs Building and its two units of accommodation (with adjoining studios) are wheelchair accessible. Cove Park’s site is on a hillside with a lit footpath connecting the Jacobs Building to the Pods, Cubes, and other studios. This path is rough and not suitable for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility. However, Cove Park has a vehicle to support access around the site if required. More details are provided in our Cove Park Site Access Guide. Please get in touch with us directly to discuss how we can support you.

Please contact us in advance of your residency to discuss your requirements and how we can support you. Residents can make appointments at the nearby Kilcreggan Medical Centre if access to a doctor or nurse is required during a residency.

No, our residencies are self-catering, and each unit of accommodation has a small kitchen. Residents are also welcome to use the communal kitchen and pantry in the Jacobs Building. We do organise occasional lunches and dinners for residents and invited guests throughout the year, and we are happy to support specific dietary requirements.
We encourage residents to shop locally, and a list of local suppliers and producers is included in the Cove Park Handbook. Residents may also order food online; all the major UK supermarkets deliver to Cove Park. In addition, a mobile fish shop – with fresh fish, seafood, seasonal vegetables, breads and cakes – comes to Cove Park every Tuesday morning at 8.00am.

Yes, we have a manual vehicle and residents aged 25 or over, with a clean driver’s license, are welcome to use this from time to time. This vehicle is also used by our Housekeepers and team, and we ask all residents to contact us directly in advance if they wish to use the vehicle.

Cove Park also has three e-bikes, ideal for short trips around the Peninsula and to local shops. Our Handbook has more information on the use of the vehicle and bikes.

Ideally, residents should arrive on Mondays between 1 pm and 4 pm, to ensure a member of the team is available to provide a tour of the site and take you to your accommodation. If this is not possible, please contact us directly.

Unless an alternative arrangement is made with the team, we ask all residents to vacate accommodation (and studios) by 10 am on Monday and by 12 noon on Saturday and Sunday. Residents are then welcome to stay on site and base themselves in the Jacobs Building until the time of their departure.

We respect all religions and faiths and are happy to support routines and customs. Please contact us directly before your residency if you need any support.

Yes, collaborators are welcome to visit for the day or short overnight stays. Please discuss this directly with the team in advance of your residency. A fee may be charged for overnight stays (to cover additional housekeeping costs) and the names and contact details of all visitors will be required.

We work with our forthcoming residents to find the optimum time for their residencies, to ensure time at Cove Park is as useful and enjoyable as possible. However, we understand other commitments may arise and short trips away from the site may be necessary, for personal reasons and also for research. Please discuss these trips with the team so we can support your arrangements. It is important for us to know who is on site and when.

The majority of the creative workshops we offer are aimed at children, young people, and their families. Some take place at Cove Park, and others at local venues, usually on a Saturday. If you would like to take part, please contact Emma Henderson (Curator of Engagement).

Public events take place throughout the year, and range from talks and performances, to screenings and exhibitions. All of our residents are very welcome to attend.

We invite former residents and Associates to co-design workshops with Emma Henderson (Curator of Engagement) and the participants themselves. This work is paid at Scottish Artist Union rates. If this is of interest, please contact Emma directly.

We regularly facilitate peer-to-peer presentations and studio visits for our residents. When appropriate, we also organise public events connected to the work and research of our residents. If this is of interest, please contact Alex Marrs (Senior Producer).
