Claudine O’Sullivan
Duration
Claudine O’Sullivan is an artist whose practice is structured around movement and process. Working across painting, drawing and illustration, she uses physical motion as a generative tool within the studio.
O’Sullivan is a World Illustration Award–winning artist with over a decade of professional experience. Alongside her independent practice, she has produced commissioned work for organisations including the Royal Academy of Arts, Derwent Pencils and John Lewis, and has delivered public workshops and events alongside these projects.
Running operates as a recurring framework in her work. Rather than functioning as subject matter, movement informs how images are made: rhythm, repetition and bodily exertion shape mark-making, layering and compositional decisions. Early layers retain the energy of motion, while later stages refine and distil it.
During this residency, O’Sullivan continues to explore movement-led image making, focusing on how physical activity can be translated into visual structure, material decision-making and sustained studio research.
