Mamoru Iriguchi returns to Cove Park for a writing residency through Playwrights’ Studio’s Play Development Bursary programme. In 2022, Mamoru participated in Cove Park’s Play Park Residency Programme as an interdisciplinary practice facilitator. He was also a resident in 2016 for the annual Space/Time Retreat facilitated by Magnetic North.

Mamoru is a performance maker with a background in zoology and theatre design. The Edinburgh-based artist’s works often explore 2D and 3D, liveness and pre-recorded-ness, gender and sexuality, fairy tales and evolution theories. Mamoru’s performance works include ‘What You See When Your Eyes Are Closed / What You Don’t See When Your Eyes Are Open’ (Wellcome Collection),  ‘Sex Education Xplorers (S.E.X.)’ (Nominee, Best Production for Children & Young People, CATS -Critics Awards in Theatre for Scotland-), ‘Eaten’ (CATS nominee), ‘4D Cinema’ (Autopsy Award) and more. His theatre design includes ‘Mincemeat’ (Cardboard Citizens, Best Design, Evening Standard Theatre Awards).
