Chu Chi Face (Scotland) is a wild romp of cogs, chaos & cabaret, an inarticulate cry for dress-up, defiance and hope in a world that’s horribly grown up. It explores pressing contemporary issues of political apathy, climate crisis and endemic loneliness through the ridiculous world of a couple living inside a clock that they cannot control. It’s a show for prophets, dreamers and adults who don’t feel big enough to face the ticking clock, a love story for fools.
Following early R&D and a work-in-progress sharing at ‘Snapshots’ for Manipulate in 2026, Alys and Duncan are delighted to continue development of Chu Chi Face at Cove Park, with a particular focus on visual dramaturgy and mask-making. We’re drawing on elements of cabaret, clowning, mask & drag with the aim of creating a uniquely playful, non-didactic & distinctively hopeful approach to contemporary issues for adult audiences.
