Thomas Abercromby is an artist and curator based in Glasgow. He graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design in 2016 (BA Hons. Contemporary Art Practice) and has a wealth of experience in developing art programmes with a wide range of stakeholders and partners, with a particular focus on promoting learning opportunities for communities.

Recent commissions include The Burrell Collection (2016), Springburn Community Council (2019) and Glasgow Open Doors Festival (2020).  He was also appointed as Visiting Artist in 2016 for New Rhythms For Glasgow and was awarded the Listhus Artist Residency, Iceland, in 2017.

Thomas has also worked as an independent curator since 2016. Immediately prior to the current COVID-19 crisis, he was developing the socially-engaged project ‘You’re Never Done’ for Glasgow International 2020/21, inspired by Glasgow’s public wash houses (the ‘Steamies’). The exhibition planned for this project will take the form of a collaborative co-working space created to address the gendered division of labour within working class communities.

The artist has also held curatorial and research roles at CCA Glasgow and was a Senior Exhibition Assistant for Scotland + Venice 2019.
