Thomas Abercromby is a visual artist and curator based in the north of Glasgow. His practice involves long-term collaborations with other creative practitioners and community partners in his local area that share his commitment to positive social and cultural change. Working directly with artists, activists, architects, school children, poets, civil servants and teachers, Thomas has established a number of art programmes and projects that promote creative learning within communities, exploring how different artistic methodologies can actively and productively contribute to civic discourse around social justice and urban regeneration.

Thomas is one of 11 artists taking part in the Crisis Residency Programme, 2020/21. At a time when a number of his current projects have been put on hold or cancelled, this residency will support the artist to continue his research connected to two projects in the early stages of development. This research will lead ultimately to the production of new films and a publication.
