Born in Edinburgh, Marie Fielding is lecturer in Performance and Fiddle, Traditional Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. A self-taught artist, Marie’s approach to teaching is holistic, nurturing uniqueness in individuals. Promoting self-assessment, risk taking, curiosity, creativity and striving to do “the best you can do” with what you have, to discover the unknown, is a priority. 

Guiding the students on their journey as a person and musician, Marie aims to build on resilience, identity, performance style and much more. Marie is also part of the team responsible for Principal Study Syllabus content updates. 

As well as performing, Marie has published several collections of her own compositions, works as a studio producer and has several of her own albums. Early years education is a passion of Marie’s and  she is a qualified Mentor.Other interests include ceramics, painting, gardening and walking.
