Emma Lewis-Jones (LJ) works across performance in various capacities; choreography, dance dramaturgy and facilitation. Her training in choreography and fine art underpin her creative practice today, which talks to the aesthetics of emergency, queering ritual and grief. Her current choreographic research is concerned with the limitations and failures of unison as a foundational dance modality, and is informed by fifteen years of somatics, folk, social and contemporary styles.
As a facilitator Emma nurtures a person-centred ethos and is dedicated to supporting people to realise their own choreographic potential. As a dramaturge she believes passionately that critique can be a form of care and fosters a rigorous generative process, utilising her dramaturgical tools during devising stages. LJ’s recent collaborators include Bishop May Down, Kirstin Halliday, Dan Brown, Nemo Flouret and Aniela Piasecka.
