Open Residencies — Don't Look, Spaceman Development Residency

Don’t Look, Spaceman is an intergalactic dance-in-space made with, and for, young audiences aged 10+. Drawing on Dan Brown’s experience as a young queer, working class person, Don’t Look, Spaceman uses humour and pathos to explore themes of class, self-esteem, resilience and belonging, and questions the patriarchal constraints placed on young people just when they are trying to find their place in the world.

The Cove Park Residency, funded by Creative Scotland Open Fund, brings together the core creative team: Dan Brown (choreographer & performer), Emma Lewis-Jones (choreographer & dance dramaturg), Ben Fletcher (sound designer) and Tanya McLaughlin (producer), for focused development of the production.

The residency will give the team valuable time away from the practical demands of production to experiment, talk, walk, reflect and think collectively about the next stage of the work and its future life.
