Diane Devlin was born in Leith, Edinburgh, in 1956 and grew up in a working class family with a love for music and storytelling. A former nurse, she is passionate about amplifying marginalised voices, especially older women. She has worked on community driven film projects tackling health stigma around smear tests and mammogram uptake. A lifelong cinephile, she embraces all genres, believing in cinema’s power to challenge, comfort and inspire. She led a production team that created a short film using women’s lived experiences as a teaching tool for local communities and local workers, specifically in NHS settings. Having completed her funded short film with Screen Scotland GMAC and Little Pictures which she wrote and directed and played joint lead. Having recently completed a NFTS script writing course she is eager to share and develop more stories around the challenges women face growing older at times of challenge, focusing on their bodies.
