Lives and works in London.
Catherine Aitken graduated from Glasgow School of Art (Textiles) in 2006. She received a Masters in Textiles from the Royal College of Art, London, in 2012.
Aitken’s work in textiles expresses her interest in pattern. She explores textiles in their most expanded sense and also uses hard materials such as wood and ceramic. She works in a very direct and intuitive way, experimenting with new materials and new ways to interpret those that already have ‘defined’ functions.
