Chay Osler is a writer of fiction for children and young people, living in Bedfordshire, England. He holds a BA (Hons) in Theatre Studies with Creative Writing and an MA in Contemporary Popular Theatre, both from Liverpool Hope University. His past work, largely short stories and verse in the fantasy genre, explores difference, environmental degradation, and complex moral choices. Chay cites Philip Pullman and Brian Jacques among his influences. At Cove Park he will be working on his first novel, with the working title The Dragon’s Heart, which is influenced by myth and folklore. It is set against a backdrop of war and explores the theme of immortality and questions of revenge and inner conflict. Chay is delighted to have the opportunity to spend a residency at Cove Park and hopes, more than anything, to engage in creative exchanges with other writers and artists. He has always loved the beauty of Scotland and hopes the natural surroundings will act as a particular source of inspiration.
