Marcus Richardson

Marcus Richardson (courtesy of the artist).

Marcus (they/them) is a theatre maker. Their practice leads them to direct, perform, and write. Their work often centres around autoethnography and autobiography to explore the multiplicity of identities that we as individuals possess. They seek to create work that explores the complex relationships, not just between characters, but also the performer and the audience. And, by extension, societal relationships. Guided by their autism, they use their confusion (and at times, exclusion) of society to create an interpretation of what they perceive, in hopes of gaining an empathetic understanding, and greater learning of people. Their working practice is often informed by autistic and disability theory, inclusion, and collaboration. Marcus has worked with various groups within theatre; adults with additional support needs, young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, school groups in Glasgow, and more. They seek to create a space where people are able to find their own creative expressions and provide an opportunity for them to turn it into performance.
