Yi-An Hsieh

Yi-An Hsieh (photography, Kuro)

Yi-An Hsieh was born in Lukang, Taiwan, in 1992. She holds a Master’s degree in Chinese Literature from National Taiwan University and is a member of the Taipei Legend Studio, which is dedicated to researching and promoting local legends of monsters and mysterious happenings.

Yi-An Hsieh is the author of the non-fiction titles Taiwanese School Ghost Stories and Where They Come From (2020), Taiwan Urban Legends and Where They Come From(2024), and the novels Lovely Enemies (2024), Snake Husband: The Bride of the Mirror Window (2021). She is also co-author of the Encyclopaedia of Taiwanese Urban Legends (2021). Yi-An Hsieh also participated in works such as Reading Sexualities: The Many Faces of Gendered Literature in Taiwan, The Hedgehog Island in History: Advancing to Fourteen National Historic Sites of War and Military Relics across Taiwan, Island Light Collection: The Translation Stories of Taiwanese Literature, and the Legend Has It series of novels and tabletop games. She conducts research and analysis on urban legends, focusing on the modernity and gender issues of ghost stories and folklore and aims to interpret human nature through these legends.
