Katie is a writer and participatory arts facilitator. Her practice is rooted in the intersection of social justice and the arts. Her writing is concerned with integrating the personal with the political by exploring the social and cultural politics that underpin our everyday lives – and actively investigating the continual dilemmas and tensions that shape our stories, both individually and collectively. She is passionate and dedicated to her work with different groups of people, and these experiences often inspire and inform her writing. Her core belief as an artist is to work consistently with individuals and groups in a co-creative, sensitive and pastoral way – supporting and attuning with participants to find their creative voice whilst connecting them to the space and sense of community around them.

Katie’s first play The Dame was staged at The Park Theatre, where she received an Offie nomination for Most Promising New Playwright, and her second play Refuge won the Foreword Writing Festival at The Space Theatre. She is a graduate of the Young Writers Programme at the Royal Court and the Writers Lab at Arcola Theatre. She has over ten years of experience developing and delivering creative arts workshops and projects in community, educational and arts settings including; The Albany, Bush Theatre, The Old Vic, Roundhouse and Wigmore Hall, and last year she completed a part time Masters in Applied Theatre at Goldsmiths University.

‘My current playwriting project is an inquiry into the subject of death, and the current cultural narratives around assisted dying and end of life care in the UK. I look forward to carving out the space and time to research, interrogate and reflect on the central questions I am asking in my play.’
