Susan Calverley Parker is a practicing artist who works in mixed media, including oil paint, graphite, charcoal, ink and watercolour paint. Using the materiality of these mediums, Susan’s work expresses a visual and emotional response to her environment. A single painting often has many oscillating layers, incorporating subtle changes over weeks or months to achieve the final complexity that makes the works speak on different levels. While studying for her MA Painting, Susan explored the complex relationships between the Anthropocene, the natural world, and the quantum. Expressing the sublime nature of landscape to follow in the footsteps of the Romantics is how Susan sees her work.
