Lisette Auton is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist, predominantly making work as a writer, performer and film and theatre maker. Her focus is on process, creative access and place: creating stories that reflect her northern, disabled and neurodivergent experiences.

She is a children’s author published by Puffin: The Secret Of Haven Point (2022); The Stickleback Catchers (2023); Lights Up (2024); and The Starlight Rebel (2025). Her books have been shortlisted for major awards and listed as the Times Book of the Week. She has had multiple commissions as a playwright including: Alphabetti Theatre for Chop, Dissolve, Burn (co-written with Richard Boggie); Unfolding Theatre for Night Classes (co-written with Becci Sharrock); Live Theatre for Wintry Tales (play text available from Methuen Drama); and a new commission from November Club, premiering in March 2025.

Her film, commissioned by New Writing North/Durham Book Festival, ‘Writing The Missing – A River Cycle’, part one of ‘The Water Trilogy’, won the Journal Culture Award 2021 for Performance of the Year. She is currently a TVCA Artist of the Year 2024-2025, awarding her a whole year of funding to create two new pieces of work: a creative non-fiction book and a play, both exploring time, mental health and cartography.
