Dr Hilary Wason

Dr Hilary Wason is the Head of Curriculum and Academic Development at Kingston University with 30 years of experience in business, education, and research. Her research focuses on curriculum development, the third space in curriculum change, critical thinking, and dialogic education. She holds a Doctorate in Education for her thesis on teaching critical thinking in higher education. She collaborates with HE institutions to enhance student experiences and is working on a Nuffield Foundation Research Grant to study dialogic education’s impact on Foundation Year students. She recently won a QAA Collaborative bid to develop a curriculum design evaluation framework and led a project to embed a skills framework across undergraduate programs at Kingston University. She leads CritTALK, an international community of practice for critical thinking and dialogic education, and the Staff Educational Development Association’s Curriculum Development Network. She developed Critical Thinking Skills Toolkits (Wason, 2016) and staff development programmes used nationally and internationally to support educators to teach critical thinking.
