Jo Lennie is an early career playwright based in South Lanarkshire. She was the recipient of the Tron Theatre’s Progressive Playwright Award in 2017 and was mentored by Lynda Radley through the Playwrights’ Studio Scotland Mentoring Programme. She was shortlisted for the Scotland Short Play Award (2017) and developed her play Lily with In Motion Theatre Company (2019). She has had short pieces and readings performed at venues in Glasgow and Edinburgh. In 2024 Jo was a finalist for the David MacLennan Award (A Play, A Pie and A Pint) with her new play Stand By Your Man. She is interested in creating work about, and for, older women.

Jo is also an arts publicist working with arts organisations and theatres in Scotland. Her residency at Cove Park is supported by a Luminate Older Artist Bursary.
