Jo Tomlinson
Duration
Sculpture House Residency is a new residency for a visual artist from Paisley (either currently living and working in Paisley or originally from Paisley). Developed by Cove Park in partnership with the town’s Sculpture House, this two-week fully funded residency offers time for self-directed studio work and the development of new ideas and projects. Sculpture House Collective – an artist-run organisation including sculptors, ceramicists, textile artists, and painters – will also offer the resident support prior to and following the residency in the form of mentoring, access to workshop facilities, mentoring in relation to social practice, and taking part in Sculpture House’s programme of events.
Jo Tomlinson is an artist based in Paisley. She graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in 2007 and has shown work in the UK and beyond. Working across video, sound, and sculpture to create installations, her work explores an ongoing fascination with human experience and the qualities that make us human as we navigate both natural and virtual worlds. In 2021, Jo graduated with an MSc in Philosophy from Glasgow University, where her work focused on affect – emotions and moods within the context of human enhancement technologies.
At Cove Park, Jo will experiment with new ideas connecting her visual and philosophical work, exploring the qualities involved in feeling ‘Awe’.
We are grateful to Mārama Consulting for making this residency possible.
