Milly Sweeney

Milly Sweeney (she/her) is a performer, playwright and poet from Glasgow, Scotland. Having graduated from New College Lanarkshire in 2024, her acting credits include “Log Off, Loser” (Flower Punk Films,) “The Little Iceberg” (Anam Alba Creatives,) “Macbeth” (New College Lanarkshire,) and “The Caravel” (Cuttin’ Aboot Theatre Co.)

Milly made her professional playwriting debut with “Water Colour” (Pitlochry Festival Theatre) which won the St Andrew’s Playwriting Award in 2024. It received five stars from The Stage Magazine, who called it an “astonishing debut,” as well as “raw and real and mightily moving.” Other writing credits include “The Big Day” (Pure Class) “The Caravel” (Cuttin’ Aboot Theatre Co,) “Ash” and “Oz” (Glasgow Acting Academy.)

Milly is keen to create socially engaged work, exploring themes such as mental health, queerness, class and feminism. Milly believes in accessible storytelling – making art that is specific, yet relatable. She favours poetic language, so it can be interpreted in a thousand different ways by the audience. Yet also implements Scottish dialect, replicating the voices she heard growing up.
