We are delighted to host Playwrights’ Studio Scotland New Playwrights Award winners at Cove Park, a partnership established several years ago and bringing wonderful writing talent to Cove Park from across Scotland.

Taking part in May 2024 is Rachel Main, a screenwriter and playwright from Glenrothes, Scotland. She is a graduate of MFA Dramatic Writing from New York University’s Tisch School of Arts. She is a recipient of Playwright Studio Scotland’s Playwright Bursary, WoLab/Paines Plough’s First Play Commission and the Alfred P. Sloan Science in Film Production grant. She has been selected for Short Circuit’s First Features programme, BBC Scottish Voices and Traverse Theatre’s Young Writers Group. Her work has been performed in New York City and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She has been short-listed for Theatre503 Five, Young Skye Films Residency,

Rachel Main is a playwright and screenwriter from Glenrothes, Scotland. She received her MFA in Dramatic Writing from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2019. She is an alumni of Traverse Young Writer’s Group and is a two-time BAFTA LA Scholarship recipient. Her work is concerned with representing working-class, queer, disability & caregiver narratives on stage and screen. Her plays have been commissioned through WoLab and Paines Plough’s First Commissions programme and by Playwrights Studio Scotland’s Playwright Bursary Award. Her screenwriting work has been commissioned by Short Circuit’s First Features programme, the Alfred P. Sloan award and she has been selected for BBC Scottish Voices. She has been short-listed for Sundance Theatre Lab, Theatre503 Five and Young Films Foundation’s Skye Residency. She’s been long-listed for the Bruntwood Play Prize, Papatango Prize, St. Andrews Play Prize, Theare503 International Play Prize and Triforce Writerslam.
