Imogen Stirling

Imogen Stirling is a playwright, poet and producer. Her show Love The Sinner (‘a 70-minute ecstasy of words, sounds, light and brilliant design’ The Scotsman), produced by Vanishing Point toured Scotland supported by Creative Scotland. It was nominated for three CATS Awards inc. Best New Play. Her debut play Starving (‘a brilliant watch’ Broadway World) was presented by A Play, A Pie and A Pint in association with Raw Material and Traverse Theatre. She’s developing a new play with support from Playwrights’ Studio Scotland and mentorship from Morgan Lloyd Malcolm.

As a dramaturg, Imogen specialises in the intersection of poetry, theatre and music. She was Associate Dramaturg to Jeanie O’Hare at Dundee Rep and Cove Park’s international Musical Theatre Writing Residency.

Imogen has performed around the UK and Europe (inc. Glastonbury, Latitude Festival, Anniki Runofestivaali, Edinburgh International Book Festival). She represented Scotland at Tranpoesie Festival in Brussels, opened the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival and created a performance poetry/drum & bass performance for National Theatre of Scotland/Push The Boat Out Festival. She features on Sky Arts’ BAFTA-winning television show, Life & Rhymes and was shortlisted for the Out-Spoken Prize for Poetry. Benjamin Zephaniah called Imogen’s writing: ‘The work of a lyrical genius.’

‘At Cove Park, I plan to develop my new play, Sinistra, about the history of victim-blaming in Scotland with support from Playwrights’ Studio Scotland.’
