Anne is a writer and practicing psychiatrist who lives in New York. She is working on a biography of the psychiatrist Helen Flanders Dunbar, who popularised the idea of mind/body medicine in the 1930s. Her first book, The Carriers, concerns unaffected carriers of the gene for Fragile X Syndrome, an inherited intellectual disability. She has written opinion pieces and personal essays for the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post, among others.
