Duration
Matilda Bevan is a painter living in North East England. She studied at the Ruskin School of Art, University of Oxford (1975-1978) and completed a Turps Correspondence Course in 2019. Her new paintings open to possibilities of expression in textures of paint on the surface, and aim to reveal tonal resonance through relationships of colour. Collage and monoprints are foundational to her imagery that often refers to place, bringing in a disrupted realism. Recent solo exhibitions include Vein, Granary Gallery, Maltings Visual Arts, Berwick-upon-Tweed (2024); The Common Language of Green, St. John’s Church, Healey, Northumberland (2022). Group exhibitions include Silent Disco ’24, Wickham Market, Suffolk (2024); Rooted, Dovecote St. Gallery, Amble, Northumberland (2024); The Morality of Attention, Terrace Gallery, London (2023).
