Kristin Hauge is a PhD student in the Department of Music at the University of Virginia. As a member of the Composition & Computer Technologies graduate program, she creates music and other media across a wide variety of genres. Her work thus far includes orchestral and chamber works, electronic projects, sonification pieces, jazz compositions, and choral compositions. She is interested in pursuing interdisciplinary projects that incorporate acoustic and electronic media both in fixed media and live performance formats. Through her work, she explores many facets of musical expression, including the relationship between music and nature (with a particular focus on birds), synthesizers and electric string instruments, and audio processing. She received her undergraduate degree in 2018 from Princeton University, where she majored in music with a focus in composition. In addition to composing, Kristin plays piano, violin, and viola.
