Katie Molyneaux Brooks

Katie Molyneaux Brooks, Dunbar Castle, 2024 (watercolour and pencil).

Katie Molyneaux Brooks is an artist and potter based in Dunbar, East Lothian.

Having grown up on Strangford Lough in Northern Ireland she has a strong connection to the sea. Katie employs a mixed media approach, blending paint and dynamic mark-making techniques to create layered, evocative pieces that reflect Scotland’s scenery. Her work often showcases a vibrant interplay of texture, colour, and movement, inviting viewers to feel the energy and drama of the outdoors.

In addition to her painting, Katie is an accomplished potter. Her pottery and paintings share a unified ethos: an appreciation for organic forms and a celebration of nature’s raw beauty.

Residing in the heart of East Lothian, she continues to draw inspiration from the sea, coastlines, hills, and ever-changing skies that surround her.

‘I intend to use the time to react to the natural surroundings on the site. Using watercolour, mark making and printing to create studies of natural features, including the plants and nearby Loch Long.’
