Mara Simpson is a composer, performing artist and producer. Exploring analogue synths and tape machines to create her signature sound, woven from electronic and organic textures. Mara has collaborated with Hidden Orchestra, Cerys Matthews, Poppy Ackroyd, Anna Phoebe, Her Ensemble and Alexandra Hamilton-Ayres, and composed music for the AppleTV+ series SILO, the full score for magical-realist film Blue Hour and featured compositions for Super Nature and SURFRUN.

She has performed at festivals including Fusion Festival (Germany), Hidden Notes (UK), Norwich Jazz, Smugglers Festival (UK) and venues such as the Barbican in London plus live sessions at the iconic Real World Studio. Mara has guest presented on BBC6 Music Freakzone, Refuge Worldwide and Flux FM. Her music has starred in Rough Trade’s Album Club and been supported by Cerys Matthews, Radcliffe and Maconie, Guy Garvey, Zakia Sewell, Tom Ravenscroft and Deb Grant on BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Radio 3 Unclassified with Elizabeth Alker.
