Eléonore Nicolas

Eléonore Nicolas as Marie-Antoinette (photography, Gestuelle)

Eléonore Nicolas is a French comedian, painter, and tour guide based in Paris. She has created several one-woman shows, often exploring the parallels between society’s treatment of nature and ourselves. Her latest show, The Revolution in My Body, weaves together the history of the French Revolution with the revolution that took place within her own body.

Eléonore is also working on a series of paintings entitled “As Within, So Without” that engages with similar themes. She cut, pruned, concealed, dug up, and ignored everything that grew naturally in her own mind. She set aside ideas, weeding them out with thoughts such as “too crazy” or “too expensive.” She spent years deforesting herself from within. Thus exploring the link between the state of the earth today and how its inhabitant, who are supposed to look after it, feel.
