Claire Farmer

Claire Farmer (photography, Daniel Clements)

Claire Farmer is a dancer, researcher and trail runner, interested in exploring women’s health and the experiences of women in wild places throughout history. She has a keen interest in the work of Rebecca Solnit and Nan Shepherd and how we situate ourselves as women in the landscape. Claire is also a trail runner and is often found running up mountains and through forests, exploring for herself what it is to be lost geographically and lost in the moment. Her current work focuses on capturing women in the vast landscape through film and visual art.

Her previous published work includes the book The ‘Female’ Dancer: a soma-scientific approach (2024), Women walking together: An exploration of space, place and female empowerment (currently under review) a study exploring women walking in rural and urban landscapes with Dr Jyoti Navare and Sarah Sulemanji.
