Mitchella Hutchins is an Aboriginal Australian tool maker, painter, and land artist. Her work is held in many private collections and has been exhibited in Perth and Southwest Australia. She is also a prominent Aboriginal businesswoman and was a presenter on GWN7’s Milbindi program and a lecturer at Western Australian University on Indigenous topics and issues. Through her business Waljin Consultancy, she created an online learning package for Indigenous cultural awareness training. Mitchella wants community values to be rediscovered by caring for community and country and believes building a healthy community is essential to tackling many issues affecting people across the planet.

Over the past ten years, Aboriginal Australian Dwardinan Nan Viv Brockman Webb, Aboriginal Australian artist Waljin Mitchella Hutchins and Scottish/Australian Land Artist, Elaine Clocherty have collaborated on over 20 works together, spanning festivals, public art, and community engagement projects. This cross cultural collaboration, combines thousands of years of Wardandi bora ceremonial sand artwork and contemporary Ephemeral Site Specific Land Art, strengthening communities to connect with each other and become caretakers of our boodja (Earth). Their next project, Awakening, takes place from 29 – 31 July 2026 at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
