Georgia McGovern (photography, Em Joseph)

Georgia McGovern is a painter and designer exploring the space between regional and planetary frameworks as artistic media, focusing on themes of climate, ecology, and the connections between people and their built and natural environments. She is pursuing her Master’s in Landscape Architecture with a focus on ecological restoration at Cornell University. Georgia received her MFA from the New York Studio School and BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Selected recent exhibitions include Dunes, Portland, Maine; 1226TX, Dallas, TX; the Rosemarie Beck Foundation, New York; Marinaro, and The Valley, Taos, NM, amongst others. Georgia is an active member of Citygroup, a collective of artists and architects dedicated to addressing the politics of displacement, public space, and local housing. Georgia is also the founder and curator of the group’s Bulletin Project, a public-facing poster project that builds upon Citygroup’s mission by extending the storefront beyond its interior wall space and onto the street to engage with the public.
