Dirck Backer and Maria Myrgård are theater makers and performing artists from Denmark. They are working as both directors and actors. In about 40 years they have been producing theatre in their own touring theatre Teater Patrasket, mainly with theatre for children and their adults.

They want to create theater from the heart, to touch their audience through strong stories that in their form also open up for play, magic and poetry. They aim for a physical and visual expression and focus on integrating play and tools like scenography, puppets, etc. into the theatrical narrative in a playful manner. And believe in the liberating and humanizing effects of humor: comedy as the surplus that gives us the courage and distance to carry life’s small and big troubles together. Teater Patrasket is well known in Denmark, and they have also been touring widely in the world. They have received several prices and – through many years – support from the Danish Arts Council.

During their time at Cove Park, they will be working on ideas for a new show for children, on how to deal with the big issues of the future.
