Cove Park’s second residency as part of the Magnetic programme has been awarded to the Paris-based artist Carla Adra.

Carla Adra is a French and Canadian artist and performer with artistic and anthropological education in France, Canada and Mexico. Self-narratives and the experience of reciprocity are at the centre of Carla Adra’s practice. In public spaces or within structures, she collects words in exchange for a real life story, she proposes to shift the enunciation point, to put on a personal narrative as one puts on the other’s clothing, making individual testimonies resonate with shared experiences.

Her solo and group exhibitions have recently taken place at the Palais de Tokyo (Paris), Marina Abramovic Institute (Amsterdam), Mécènes du Sud (Montpellier, Sète, Beziers), 66è Salon de Montrouge (Montrouge), La Galerie CAC (Noisy-le-Sec), MACVAL (Vitry-sur-Seine), CAPC (Bordeaux), 15th Biennale de Lyon (Lyon), FRAC Champagne-Ardenne (Reims), Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris), Centre du Livre d’Artistes (St-Yrieix-la-Perche), Espace Niemeyer (Paris). Carla Adra’s work has been acquired by the Fonds d’art contemporain – Paris Collections. She is represented by the Gallery Valeria Cetraro (Paris).

Cove Park is delighted to be the Scottish residency taking part in Magnetic, a new Franco-UK network bringing together four organisations from France and four from the UK to create a programme of funded residencies for visual artists based in both countries. The participating venues are: CAPC in Bordeaux, CRAC Occitanie in Sète, FRAC Grand Large in Dunkerque, Villa Arson in Nice, and four in the United Kingdom for French based artists – Grizedale Arts in England, Flax Art Studios in Northern Ireland, Aberystwyth Arts Centre in Wales, and Cove Park. Magnetic will gradually build an expanding network of partner institutions with shared commitments and values.

Magnetic is a programme of Fluxus Art Projects, which is supported by the Institut français du Royaume-Uni, the Institut français, French Ministry of Culture, French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, Arts Council England, Creative Scotland, Arts Council of Wales/Wales International, Arts Council of Northern Ireland, the British Council, and its private patrons and friends.
