Ailie Robertson is a multi-award-winning Scottish composer and musician who has been commissioned to compose works by some of the worlds’s most prestigious cultural institutions including the BBC Proms, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Bang on a Can, Cappella Nova, the Riot Ensemble, Exaudi, Scottish Ensemble and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra amongst others. She holds a PhD in composition from Trinity Laban Conservatoire, and is currently composer-in-residence with Sound Festival and Glyndebourne Opera. Ailie is a 3-time Scottish Awards for New Music’ winner, was nominated ‘Composer of the Year’ and ‘Musician of the Year’ in the Scottish Trad Music Awards, and held a BBC Performing Arts Fellowship. As a harpist she has performed all around globe, and is recognised for her unique fusion of Scottish, Irish and contemporary styles. Drawing from over a decades experience of performing and recording with a wide spectrum of artists and ensembles, she creates rich, multi-layered soundscapes for concert hall, stage and screen.
