Sharon is a fibre and glass artist, trained at the Glasgow School of Art. Following her education in Scotland she attended the Banff Centre of Fine Arts in Alberta, Canada. She now lives and works in Toronto, Canada and is a founding member of Toronto’s Contemporary Textile Co-op. Sharon’s artistic practice includes screen-printing, digital printing, stitching, collage, drawing and stained glass. Influenced by her travels and exposure to various traditions, her work explores the colours, richness and layering found in Indian Textiles and traditional papercuts. Her works has been exhibited in Britain and North America including in the permanent collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, Skirbal Museum in Los Angeles, and the Yeshiva University Museum in New York. Sharon has become increasingly fascinated with everyday ceremonial objects, throughout the past 30 years she has completed major commissions for spiritual spaces and hospitals in Canada and USA. During her time at Cove Park Sharon’s focus will be on developing a series of botanical drawings that will afford her the time to experiment and explore new ideas relevant to her glass and textile work.
