Cove Park, with generous support from the Craignish Trust, continues to support the development of emerging visual artists from Scotland and throughout the UK. Previous residents on this programme include Pio Abad, Giles Bailey, Sara Barker, Lucy Clout, Nick Evans and Charlotte Prodger. Artists are provided with the support required to develop new work at a crucial stage in their careers.

Sophie Mackfall is a painter based in Glasgow. Her working process relies on a combination of ephemeral material (objects, news/image cuttings) and the manipulation of the paint medium in an unreliable, precarious process that dictates what the work becomes.

This residency comes at an ideal time for Mackfall as she has just completed two years as a voluntary Committee Member at Transmission Gallery, Glasgow. At Cove Park, Mackfall will continue her research into the ideological approaches towards the process of making, explore new methods and approaches towards her painting practice and develop alternative ways to explore research interests.
