Graham Fagen

Born Glasgow, 1966. Lives and works in Glasgow

Graham Fagen studied sculpture at Glasgow School of Art from 1988 – 1988 and went on to study for an MA in Art and Architecture at Kent Institute of Art and Design, Canterbury.

Fagen works in a variety of ways to create artworks that examine what he calls ‘cultural formers.’ His print for the first Cove Park Portfolio uses an iconic image forged from his ‘library of ideas’ and that was first used in his 2005 exhibition Clean Hands, Pure Heart at Tramway, Glasgow.  It references notions of identity, symbols and associations between cultures, in particular between Scotland and Jamaica at the time of the poet Robert Burns. Fagen produced a major collaborative exhibition with theatre producer Graham Eatough Killing Time at Dundee Contemporary Arts, which developed from a Cove Park residency in 2004. Fagen is represented by Matt’s Gallery, London.
