Through a new partnership with deAuteurs, a Belgian authors’ rights management organisation that represents authors of performing arts, audio-visual, literary, and visual works, we are pleased to announce two-week residencies supporting artists developing new work in performance.

Céline Timmerman (1990) is a Belgian theatre maker, actress and screenwriter. Her artistic work moves between visual art and physical theatre. After studying fine art in Ghent, she continued her studies as a theatre maker at the Maastricht Theatre Academy, graduating in 2016 with the performance Bodemloos. Dark humour, a gentle slowness and a love of wool are characteristic of her work. Céline often creates the scenography for her performances herself.

Her second performance, Buidelwolf/POUCH (2019), was presented at the Amsterdam Fringe Festival. Five young girls take centre stage in a performance about the relationship between mother and child. Her next performance is BOBBETY 8+ (2025), a visual journey through a fleshy landscape in which a lonely woman decides to clone herself. Céline is currently developing her latest creation, DUNKEL 8+ (2027), which asks why we so often see darkness as something negative. The performance follows two children as they find their way through the darkness.

As an actress, Céline has appeared in numerous short films and had guest roles in the TV series. In 2019, she won the audience award at the Cross Over Pitch at TAZ with Same Same. Through this project, she completed the screenwriting workshop at the Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF) and received screenwriting and development support.
