Nik is a Counter Tenor vocalist, composer, artist and DJ. They make work that considers experiences of networked presence, polymorphous bodies and vocal transformation. Situated between song, collective performance and dance, their practice explores the complex relational quality of sound in space, while creating spaces of shared connection, confrontation and joy. Nik is a permanent resident at the Pervasive Media Studio, Bristol, and has shown sound works and performances at Trinity Centre, Bristol; LUMA Foundation, Zurich; Guest Projects, The Surrounding, London.
They have contributed recordings for artist Bryony Gillard’s work I Dreamed I Called You on the Telephone shown at Jerwood Space, London, and sang on Colin Self’s record Siblings alongside Lyra Pramuk. As a DJ performing as Ni-Ku, Nik has performed at Intruder Alert in Warsaw, Ziur’s Boo Hoo in Berlin, Tropical Waste in London and a host of other parties and raves around UK. They also have their own show on Bristol’s Noods Radio, having previously hosted shows on NTS, 199 Radio and Radar Radio.
