Bartelijntje Buys

Cove Park in the autumn (photography, Alan Dimmick).

Bartelijntje Buys is a field biologist with the University of Ghent, Belgium. Her research – involving bears, wolves, ground squirrels, birds, chimpanzees, cetaceans, and marine nematodes – explores how ecology, behavioural biology, policy and conservation interact with each other. She believes in the resilience of nature, of which humans play a part. She respects the wisdom and holistic vision of many indigenous cultures and believes in the promise of planetary health.

At Cove Park, she intends to continue research on chimpanzee accumulative stone throwing in a changing world.
