Residency

Lucy Mercer

Cove Park is delighted to welcome Lucy Mercer as the inaugural Royal Holloway Writing Fellow. This Fellowship offers an outstanding student on Royal Holloway’s Creative Writing Programme a four-week residency alongside professional artists across all disciplines. The residency is a opportunity for an emerging writer to develop their own work in a professional residency setting, to expand their creative horizons and make new contacts and friends in their own field and without.

Lucy Mercer was born in Devon in 1988 and lives and works in London. She is currently studying for the MA in Place, Environment Writing at Royal Holloway – a creative writing course dedicated to poetry and the environment. After graduating with a BA in American Literature from Goldsmiths, she spent 2011 working as a research analyst for an investment fund specialising in tropical forest conservation and restoration.

She is now editorial assistant at Ambit and editor of science fiction publication Universe Magazine. In 2012 she was commissioned to edit artist Nathan Witt’s text for the permacultures residency at SPACE gallery, and writer Federico Campagna’s forthcoming text from Zero Books. Her articles on environment are published on the online multilingual platform Through Europe. Her main areas of interest are poetry, environmental science and history of religions.
