Manipulate Arts & Cove Park International Visual Theatre Residency
We are thrilled to be working in partnership with Manipulate Arts, along with three international festivals (Go Figure, Oslo; TIP-Fest, Turku; and Arrivano dal Mare, Ravenna), to host an International Visual Theatre Residency at Cove Park next year.
Via Manipulate Arts, we are now accepting applications from Scotland-based artists working in the fields of visual theatre, including: puppetry, object theatre, mime, clown, circus or physical theatre.
The residency aims to offer deep mid-stage development on Scottish visual theatre projects, in recognition of the need for longer development timelines for devised work. We aim to grow quality and ambition in visual theatre practice, and will support three Scottish and three international companies to develop works in parallel and engage in creative exchange.
The residency will take place at Cove Park from 1-12 February, 2027, and culminate in a sharing as part of Undercurrents, at the Traverse Theatre on 14 February.
Through this open call we will support two Scottish works, with fees available for 2 artists on each project. A further Scottish work will be in residency as part of Manipulate’s Scottish Visual Theatre Commission alongside 3 international companies nominated by partners in Italy, Norway and Finland.
This opportunity has been developed in response to needs identified by our artist community for greater support for time-intensive devising processes, and more opportunities to internationalise their practice.
The residency is a unique opportunity for Scottish artists working in visual theatre to simultaneously access international exchange alongside mid-stage development that bridges the funding gap between early-stage development and finished production.
